RoomB&B Beaune
Guigone de Salin

Aged 18, she became the third wife of Nicolas Rolin, chancellor to the Duke of Burgundy, who was 30 years older than her. She remained at his side for the rest of his life, giving him 3 children.

Together, they founded the famous Hospices de Beaune in 1443.

Little by little, she introduced art into the hospital. The destitute, pilgrims and poor sick were cared for in magnificent surroundings.

Widowed in 1462, Guigone de Salins continued to direct the Hôtel Dieu alone for the rest of her life, devoting herself to caring for the sick.
